News, Events, Announcements, Document Groups, My Podcasts, Forms, Content pages, Photo Albums, and Mailing Lists all have this feature. In addition, the Calendar has its own feed called Subscriptions (ICS), which refers to iCalShare (a file format used to share scheduling information). In addition to sharing your feeds, you can also add a feed from another *net *Adventist site to your own site. It works the same for all the extensions, but we?ll use News as an example. If you want to add a news feed from your union to your local church Web site you would go to the *Website Pages* tab in your Dashboard and click on *Content Feeds (RSS)* under the *News *submenu. Next you would click on *Browse Available Feeds* and a lightbox would display a list of all available feeds. Then find your union?s feed and click on the* Subscribe* link. When the feed has been added the link will change to Subscribed. Then click *Done*. News added from other feeds will be available on your site?s News index page. The Calendar feed works a little differently in that you have to enter the URL of the calendar feed you?re subscribing to. Every *net*Adventist v.3 site has an ICS file that they can share with other sites. The file is located at http://[webaddress]/events.ics. This is the URL you will need in order to add a new calendar feed to your site. You can also add external RSS feeds to your site. To do this, go to the * Settings* tab in your Dashboard and select *Themes and Templates* from the menu. Then select the template you wish to use (or create a new one) and add the *External Feeds Widget* to your template. Next, paste the URL of the feed into the widget and select how you want it to be viewed. Be sure to click *Done* to save your work. net*FAQ **Frequently Asked Questions* *When I create or edit a content page, there is a box near the bottom that says "labels". What is this for? I can't find a description of it anywhere.* The Labels field at the bottom of each content page allows you to add keywords related to the topic of your page to help with search engine optimization (SEO). It should generate keyword meta-fields used by search engines, however, it isn't currently working. It should be available in the near future. ------------------------------ *To submit a question or an article idea* for future newsletters, click hereto email Nicole Batten. You can designate who you want to view each announcement in its Page Properties by selecting Anyone, Member, Publisher, Web administrator, or a custom role. You can also choose to create a link in your main menu for your announcements or have them automatically displayed on your home page as a widget. This is a great place to put reminders about projects or upcoming events, as well as share updates. To create an announcement, click on the *Website Pages* tab in the Dashboard. Select the link for *Announcements* from the left-hand menu. Then click on the *Add Announcements* button in the top right of the screen. Once you fill in all the appropriate fields you can choose to save your announcement as a *Draft* (where you can *Preview* it) or *Publish* it immediately. Any announcements submitted by your site users on the front end of your Web site will go into the *Pending* folder under your Announcements menu (where you can approve them before they go live). However, members will have to be logged-in before they can submit an announcement. Once they are logged-in, your site users will find a *Submit* link at the top of the *Announcements*page. After an announcement expires it is sent to your *Archive *folder. Here you can delete it, move it to the *Draft* folder, or make changes to it and * Publish* it again. You also have the option of subscribing to announcement feeds from other * net*Adventist sites by selecting the *Shared* link in the left-hand menu under *Announcements* in the *Website Pages* tab. These are announcement entries shared by other sites throughout the *net*Adventist network. For example, a conference can share its announcements with member churches this way. To subscribe to another site's *Announcements*, click on the *Browse Available Feeds* button. Then select the *Subscribe* link next to any of the shared announcement entries. The shared announcements you subscribe to will show on your page along with your own local content. net*Share** **Shared Links, Content, and Applications* *Make Your netAdventist Site More Effective with Google Analytics* If you want to monitor traffic on your site (i.e. the behavior of people visiting your site) and use it to make your Web site more effective, Google Analytics is a free and easy way to do it. Google Analytics generates detailed statistics (including graphs) about visitors to your site. With Google Analytics you can learn where your visitors are coming from and how they interact within your site. You can track: ? How many people are visiting your site each hour, day, week, or month ? What pages people are visiting in your site ? How much time people spend on your site ? What geographical location people visiting your site are from ? Where people are finding your site at ? What browsers visitors are using ? And how to optimize content through click patterns, navigation analysis, landing pages To sign-up for your free Google Analytics account, visit www.google.com/analytics. You will need to sign-in to your Google Account to access it. To add your Google Analytics code in your *net*Adventist site, go to the * Settings* tab in your Dashboard. Then click on *Google Features* in left-hand menu and scroll down to step three and paste your Google Analytics code into the box. Don?t forget to log-in to your Google account regularly to track your Web site statistics! net*FAQ** **Frequently Asked Questions* *In v.2 of netAdventist we could make navigation links viewable (or not) based on login access. **Does** v.3 **provide** this same functionality**?** It is a very user friendly way to limit access to reserved content -- by simply not providing the navigation link to those who should not access it.* Yes, *net*Adventist v.3 provides this same functionality. Items that have an access level to them (such as Content Pages, Document Groups, Forms, Announcements, etc.) should disappear appropriately when added to your menus. However, keep in mind that not all items have access levels available to them yet. If you aren?t sure what access level your content has, check the *Page Properties* by scrolling to the bottom of your content?s editing screen. Look for ?*Who can view this page?*? You will see five levels of access, including a custom access level you can create. ------------------------------ *To submit a question or an article idea* for future newsletters, click hereto email Nicole Batten.
